Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 0.75% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP), which rose 3.88% or 0.79 points to trade at 21.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) added 3.26% or 0.35 points to end at 11.10 and EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) was up 2.01% or 0.28 points to 14.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS), which fell 3.11% or 0.16 points to trade at 4.84 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) declined 1.10% or 0.07 points to end at 6.31 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was down 1.05% or 0.22 points to 20.74.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 14 to 13 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.01% or 0.28 to 14.23.
Brent oil for June delivery was up 6.32% or 6.39 to $107.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 11.22% or 11.23 to hit $111.35 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 2.69% or 129.65 to trade at $4,683.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 99.79.
