Suntory to buy Daiichi Sankyo OTC unit for $1.2 bln - Nikkei

Investing.com-- Japan’s Suntory Holdings (TYO:2587) will acquire the over-the-counter drug unit of Daiichi Sankyo (TYO:4568) for about 200 billion yen ($1.2 billion), the Nikkei newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The deal marks a push by Suntory to expand its health-related business as demand for alcoholic beverages, including beer and whisky, faces structural decline.

Daiichi Sankyo will divest its healthcare arm focused on over-the-counter medicines, the report said.
