Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.16%, while the S&P 500 index added 0.80%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 1.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), which rose 4.32% or 8.63 points to trade at 208.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) added 3.49% or 8.91 points to end at 263.99 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) was up 2.78% or 4.82 points to 178.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK), which fell 2.42% or 2.77 points to trade at 111.85 at the close. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) declined 1.78% or 0.84 points to end at 46.38 and Walmart Inc (NASDAQ:WMT) was down 1.61% or 2.12 points to 129.91.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which rose 23.60% to 82.54, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) which was up 13.91% to settle at 347.79 and Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM) which gained 11.12% to close at 148.85.
The worst performers were Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR) which was down 25.50% to 180.13 in late trade, Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:CMCSA) which lost 12.97% to settle at 27.54 and HCA Holdings Inc (NYSE:HCA) which was down 8.77% to 432.46 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Trident Digital Tech Holdings Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:TDTH) which rose 2,769.69% to 1.96, Sow Good Inc (NASDAQ:SOWG) which was up 1,518.18% to settle at 1.78 and MaxLinear Inc (NASDAQ:MXL) which gained 76.12% to close at 60.32.
The worst performers were Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:CHSN) which was down 92.53% to 0.18 in late trade, Auddia Inc (NASDAQ:AUUD) which lost 63.83% to settle at 1.83 and SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:SMX) which was down 41.20% to 2.07 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1445 to 1258 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1819 rose and 1566 declined, while 164 ended unchanged.
Shares in Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) rose to all time highs; up 23.60% or 15.76 to 82.54. Shares in Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR) fell to 5-year lows; down 25.50% or 61.65 to 180.13. Shares in Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) rose to all time highs; rising 13.91% or 42.46 to 347.79. Shares in NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) rose to all time highs; up 4.32% or 8.63 to 208.27. Shares in Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) rose to all time highs; up 3.49% or 8.91 to 263.99. Shares in Chanson International Holding (NASDAQ:CHSN) fell to all time lows; down 92.53% or 2.28 to 0.18. Shares in Auddia Inc (NASDAQ:AUUD) fell to all time lows; losing 63.83% or 3.23 to 1.83. The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.21% to 18.69.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 1.36 to $4,722.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.65% or 0.62 to hit $95.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 1.37 to trade at $106.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.17, while USD/JPY fell 0.12% to 159.40.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 98.35.
