Investing.com -- Terra Innovatum is expanding the commercial vision for its SOLO microreactor beyond a single 1 megawatt-electric unit, positioning the technology as a scalable modular power architecture capable of serving large industrial and data-center customers, Investing.com has learned.

The nuclear startup is introducing two new concepts, SOLO Nodes and SOLO Load Coverage, that together address how large power consumers actually scale and consume electricity, according to information reviewed by Investing.com.

The SOLO Node architecture allows multiple reactor cores to share power conversion and balance-of-plant systems, rather than duplicating plant equipment for each unit.

Terra is using the concept to describe deployment pathways ranging from a single 1 MWe unit up to configurations of 25 MWe, 50 MWe and 100 MWe, expanding its commercial pitch to larger behind-the-meter customers while maintaining standardization at the reactor level.

The SOLO Load Coverage concept is designed around real operating conditions for data centers, where steady reactor output is paired with a small storage layer to manage rapid load swings.

In one example cited by the company, a 97 MWe data-center load is served by a 97 MWe SOLO fleet, with capacitors and battery storage sized at roughly 100 kilowatt-hours per MWe to smooth high-frequency demand changes.

Alessandro Petruzzi, co-founder and CEO, framed the dual approach as central to the company's industrial strategy.

"SOLO is not just a reactor; it is a modular power architecture. The node concept lets us scale for industrial and data-center customers without giving up standardization, while the load-coverage model is designed around how those customers actually consume power," Petruzzi told Investing.com.

The announcement comes as investor interest in nuclear power continues to rise.

A December article from the IAEA said that when it comes to AI, Nuclear is the only energy source that can “meet combined demands of low-carbon generation, 24/7 reliability, massive power density, grid stability and genuine scalability.”
