
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Aerospace & Defense and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 10.03% or 39.90 points to trade at 437.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) added 7.74% or 65.20 points to end at 907.60 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 5.43% or 29.00 points to 562.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which fell 6.02% or 16.80 points to trade at 262.20 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 5.39% or 60.00 points to end at 1,053.50 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) was down 5.04% or 102.00 points to 1,921.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1101 to 688 and 492 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.00% or 91.80 to $4,501.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 7.64% or 6.67 to hit $94.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 6.62% or 6.03 to trade at $97.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 99.23.
