AIM ImmunoTech reports 50% response rate in ovarian cancer trial

AIM ImmunoTech Inc. (NYSE American: AIM) announced results from a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating its drug Ampligen in combination with checkpoint inhibition and chemotherapy for recurrent ovarian cancer.

The trial achieved a 50% objective response rate, including 21% complete responses, according to the company’s statement. Additional results included a 79% clinical benefit rate, median overall survival of 32.5 months, and responses lasting more than 70 months in select patients. The study reported no Grade 4 or 5 toxicities.

The single-arm trial was conducted in collaboration with Merck Sharp & Dohme and was financially supported by a Merck grant. The study aimed to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in ovarian cancer through immune activation strategies.

Robert P. Edwards, MD, McCall Chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, stated the trial showed "significant improvement in both clinical response rates and immune activation" compared to previous studies using similar analytical approaches.

Collection of additional secondary endpoint data including progression-free survival and time to disease progression is expected to be completed in January 2027, according to the company.

AIM ImmunoTech’s lead product Ampligen is described as an investigational drug and selective TLR3 agonist immunomodulator currently in clinical trials for various cancers, viral diseases and immune system disorders.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
