I’m trying to get better at valuing stocks properly and debating whether it’s worth putting time into building DCFs.
For those of you who actually use them, how did you get started? Did you build your own from scratch or use a template and tweak it over time?
Also not sure how detailed to go. Is it worth doing full projections with a 3-statement model, or is a simpler version good enough for most cases?
And practically, are you just pulling numbers from SEC filings into Excel, or is there a more efficient way to do this?
Trying to figure out if this is a skill worth investing time into or if there are better ways to approach valuation as a retail investor.
