Oracle falls, Hugo Boss takeover chatter heats up, Magnum melts in the spotlight

Yahoo Finance Senior Reporter Brooke DiPalma joins Market Domination to tackle today's Trending Tickers, including Oracle (ORCL), Hugo Boss (BOSS.DE), and Magnum Ice Cream (MICC).

Oracle expects 2027 reported CAPEX around $90 billion. Investors thinking, okay, it was solid results, but what are returns on all that spending going to look like?

And this is what investors are really fearful of. This was the worst day that Oracle's had in about six months because of the fact that this is a massive amount of money that they're putting towards AI infrastructure. And investors right now really do want to see the returns of that. They want to make sure that they're going to see a return of all this money that they're putting forward. and there's lots of uncertainty about whether the demand of artificial intelligence can actually justify how much they're spending on this. And I think that's where a lot of the fear comes from today. I mean, we saw the stock fall about 13%. now still heading towards the close down about 9% still. and Josh, like I said, this is the worst day that Oracle has had in about half a year and leading up to this, I mean, year to date still down about 6% with today's move.

So, Oracle leadership is executing. There's just questions about the future.

journal reporting here. Fraser's Group, saying Brooke, it's going to launch a cash offer of around 2 billion to take full control of Hugo Boss. They expect, expect to complete that deal in the second half of the year. What'd you make of that one?

Well, I was like, does Hugo Boss even approve of this deal? Did they even get the word out yet? Because it seemed like there wasn't alignment even though they said that, okay, we're going to close this deal in the second half of the year. It doesn't necessarily seem like Hugo Boss, you know, stamped, gave the stamp of approval on that. And we are seeing shares move higher. Yeah. And when you think about what they're offering at, I believe it's $36 around 36 euros rather. And right now the stock is trading nearly 40 uh euros I believe also our site has it as. And so when you think about the momentum, year to date this stock, I mean really just in the past few days, up nearly 12%, today alone up 9%. And so obviously investors are approving of this. It seems like the companies already worked together. This seems pretty seamless, but at the same time you hear takeover bid and as the company who's getting taken over, you're like, hmm.

Ben Cohen of Ben and Jerry's fame, of course, not happy, Brooke. uh arguing that Magnum, which now owns Ben and Jerry's, they're undermining the company's values because they're restricting, they're restricting criticism of President Trump.

I think that Ben and Jerry's is a company that tends to lean into these cultural moments. They always have and and I think that Ben and Jerry, they've always been a part of those moments. They've always wanted to speak out about those moments.

He sold the company like 20 years ago, by the way.

Okay, but at the same time, don't don't forget that he had the same fight with Unilever. and now Magnum is just the new player here after they spun off from Unilever in 2025.

2000, 26 years ago.

Frank, this happened in January.

I have seen here in January 2026. If I'm a Magnum investor, you know what I'd really like you to be focused on? How about maximizing sales? Not getting political. I really don't, I don't understand that.

Well, when they do lean into some of these moments, it does drive momentum, drive sales opportunities.

I I don't know why my pint of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia needs to be yelling about politics. I really don't get that.
