Rocket Lab Corporation (RKLB) announced it has been selected alongside Raytheon to demonstrate advanced capabilities for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Based Interceptor program. The program focuses on strengthening national missile defense capabilities.
The partnership will work on developing solutions for countering hypersonic threats, according to the announcement made May 7. Brad Clevenger, President of Rocket Lab USA, stated that "next-generation missile defense, including the ability to counter hypersonic threats, is a national security priority."
The Space Based Interceptor program represents an expansion of Rocket Lab’s involvement in national security and defense programs. The company currently operates across launch and space systems portfolios for government clients.
