- Bernstein projects prediction markets to reach $1 trillion by 2030, driven by regulatory clarity, mainstream partnerships, and blockchain integration. This growth could attract institutional capital and improve price discovery, but the impact on US equities is limited to potential investment flows into related blockchain technologies.

Investing.com -- The emerging sector for prediction markets, specialized platforms where users trade contracts based on the outcomes of sporting, business, economic, and political events, is set for explosive growth, according to a new report from Bernstein.
Analysts at the firm project that event-contract volumes will scale to roughly $240 billion by the end of 2026, eventually ballooning to a $1 trillion market by 2030.
Bernstein’s report highlights that prediction markets are rapidly evolving from niche gaming platforms into broader, more sophisticated "information markets."
The growth thesis is underpinned by three primary pillars: increased federal regulatory clarity, the formation of mainstream distribution partnerships, and a structural liquidity edge over traditional, state-regulated gaming frameworks.
As prediction markets gain legitimacy, they are beginning to function as high-efficiency forecasting tools for a wide range of real-world outcomes.
A key factor accelerating this adoption is the integration of blockchain-based tokenization.
Analysts suggest the underlying technology is enabling global liquidity, allowing for the creation of "long-tail" event contracts, highly specific or niche events, while simultaneously lowering the barrier for institutional participation.
"Increasing regulatory clarity at the federal level is expanding the addressable market," the Bernstein team noted.
By moving beyond the constraints of local, state-regulated environments, these platforms are better positioned to integrate with broader crypto ecosystems. As the markets mature, they are expected to become critical infrastructure for price discovery and risk management.
The shift is already attracting a growing segment of institutional capital that has historically shied away from the fragmented and limited scope of traditional betting sites, setting the stage for a new era of decentralized financial forecasting.
