Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.58% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.37%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.19%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK), which rose 5.64% or 6.54 points to trade at 122.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) added 2.13% or 3.76 points to end at 180.07 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) was up 1.86% or 2.20 points to 120.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), which fell 1.90% or 4.18 points to trade at 215.33 at the close. Walmart Inc (NASDAQ:WMT) declined 0.88% or 1.07 points to end at 120.27 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) was down 0.80% or 2.14 points to 266.32.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Dell Technologies Inc (NYSE:DELL) which rose 16.77% to 295.19, HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) which was up 15.27% to settle at 25.25 and NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:NTAP) which gained 12.44% to close at 139.36.

The worst performers were Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:TTWO) which was down 4.42% to 227.55 in late trade, Universal Health Services Inc (NYSE:UHS) which lost 2.86% to settle at 157.80 and Charter Communications Inc (NASDAQ:CHTR) which was down 2.52% to 145.15 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were U BX Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:UBXG) which rose 2,318.60% to 3.12, iPower Inc (NASDAQ:IPW) which was up 747.22% to settle at 4.27 and Akari Therapeutics PLC (NASDAQ:AKTX) which gained 253.70% to close at 18.18.

The worst performers were Global Mofy Metaverse Ltd (NASDAQ:GMM) which was down 72.10% to 0.27 in late trade, Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX) which lost 58.11% to settle at 0.51 and NervGen Pharma Corp (NASDAQ:NGEN) which was down 43.48% to 2.08 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1576 to 1151 and 101 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1855 rose and 1529 declined, while 196 ended unchanged.

Shares in Dell Technologies Inc (NYSE:DELL) rose to all time highs; rising 16.77% or 42.39 to 295.19. Shares in NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:NTAP) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 12.44% or 15.42 to 139.36. Shares in Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.86% or 2.20 to 120.40. Shares in Global Mofy Metaverse Ltd (NASDAQ:GMM) fell to all time lows; falling 72.10% or 0.70 to 0.27. Shares in Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX) fell to all time lows; down 58.11% or 0.71 to 0.51.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.36% to 16.70 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.68% or 30.93 to $4,511.57 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.18% or 0.17 to hit $96.18 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.63 to trade at $103.21 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.16, while USD/JPY rose 0.13% to 159.16.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 99.25.
