- The author posits that Oracle (ORCL) is a leading indicator for the tech sector and the broader S&P 500, particularly regarding AI trends. They suggest Oracle's decline signals potential weakness in other tech giants. Concerns about insider trading due to Oracle's national security exposure and large-scale layoffs are highlighted as bearish factors. The author recommends monitoring Oracle's performance as a potential signal for future market movements, especially in overleveraged AI-related companies.

It sounds like satire - but its not. Ive been watching this company very closely. Theyre very "on trend" and perhaps moreso than any other company, including google and microsoft when it comes to AI investment. Theyre also the key player in tik tok - which represents massive exposure to social media where its closely tied into AI.
AI. AI. AI.
The index sp500 isnt "pulling oracle up" like people think. Its the opposite. Oracle is pulling sp500 down and everyone else along with it. When oracle began its rapid decline earlier this year, the news focused mostly on nvdia/tesla/google. But what everyones missing is how theyre all following wherever oracle goes. It sounds like satire, but oracle is signaling our future.
Also, due to heavily being exposed to national security - as with all stocks in this category, insider trading is rampant. If it doesnt make sense why oracle is going down despite all its good news, its becouse someone knows something you dont, and is telling all their wealthy freinds too. We see this a lot with stocks where the government remains hawkish (sadly). Oracle is in the same bed as microsoft and lockheed martin from a homeland security perspective, and shares are being offloaded.
And this is not something which is currently overleveraged where you could point to that as a reason, its being sold off in chunks - employees are being laid off by the 10's of thousands.
A short play might be a good hedge here if you think AI is overpriced/overhyped, or simply keep an eye on where oracle goes and use it as a leading indicator as to where all the overleveraged companies will move later this year.
