- TELUS and Fortanix are partnering to launch a Confidential AI solution in Canada, utilizing NVIDIA infrastructure. This allows Canadian organizations to train and deploy AI while keeping sensitive data secure within Canadian jurisdiction. While the direct impact on US equities is limited, it signals growing investment and innovation in AI infrastructure, which could indirectly benefit US tech companies like NVIDIA.
Vancouver based TELUS (TSX: $T) (NYSE: $TU) said Monday it will roll out a new Confidential AI solution with the help of Fortanix, built on NVIDIA infrastructure, designed to allow Canadian organizations to train and deploy artificial intelligence while keeping sensitive data safe.
Telus says the solution, unveiled at the NVIDIA GTC 2026 conference, provides cryptographic proof that data remains securely within Canadian jurisdiction.

According to the release, the joint platform uses installed NVIDIA hardware at the TELUS Sovereign AI Factory with Fortanix providing verified attestation and attestation-gated secure key release to eliminate the risk of exposing sensitive data during active processing.
"TELUS has built Canada’s first fully Sovereign AI infrastructure so that researchers, startups, enterprises and public institutions no longer have to choose between protecting their data and unlocking the transformative benefits of AI," said Hesham Fahmy, Chief Information Officer at TELUS.
While data is normally protected at rest and in transit, traditional infrastructure often leaves it vulnerable during runtime. "Trust is not implicit – it must be proven," said Anuj Jaiswal, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at Fortanix. He noted that the joint solution allows organizations to deploy AI on sensitive workloads with "cryptographic proof of protection, all on Canadian soil."
The joint Confidential AI solution will be available through the TELUS Sovereign AI Factory, which operates out of data centers powered by 99% renewable energy.
The companies say the new platform will enable faster innovation for Canadian companies while maintaining strict compliance with national privacy regulations.
Shares of Telus are trading at $18.29, up 1.53 percent on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
