Any long-term investors here who do serious company research but do not really read filings?

Genuine question. Are there people here who have been investing for years, analyze companies pretty deeply, and have a process that works reasonably well, but still do not spend much time reading 10-Ks / 10-Qs directly?

I do not mean people who skip research. I mean investors who still do plenty of work but do not rely much on filings, or only check them selectively.

If that is you, I would be curious:

  • what your process looks like * what you use instead of filings * where you think that approach works fine * and where it clearly breaks down
