Hi r/valueinvesting — I've been reading this community for a while and finally decided to stop lurking.
Quick background: I spent 40 years in technology leadership (Apple, HP, EXXON and others), and after stepping back from that world I turned most of my attention to managing my own portfolio. The engineering instinct never really goes away, so over the past year I've been quietly building my own research tool — combining multi-year fundamental analysis with a systematic sentiment-scoring process — mostly to discipline my own thinking and catch my own biases.
I'm not here to sell anything or promote a product. I'm here because value investing is the philosophical framework I keep coming back to, and I find the discussions here sharper than almost anywhere else online.
I'd also welcome any reading recommendations specifically on the tension between quantitative screening and qualitative judgment — that's the edge I'm trying to sharpen.
Looking forward to contributing and learning.
