The bank said Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is making meaningful advances in key components of the robot, particularly the hands and forearms, which are among the most complex engineering challenges in humanoid robotics.
It added that Tesla is focusing on improving reliability and manufacturability to support scaling, while continuing to design many critical components in-house to retain control over intellectual property and performance.
Goldman also flagged that AI training remains central to the Optimus project. Tesla is working to translate human motion into robotic actions, a difficult problem that requires large datasets and precise modeling to enable real-world use. The company plans to first deploy Optimus internally, using it within its own operations to refine performance before wider commercialization.
