Medtronic receives CE mark for Stealth AXiS surgical system in Europe

Medtronic plc (MDT) announced it received CE mark approval for its Stealth AXiS surgical system, enabling the company to market the integrated surgical platform across Europe. The system combines planning, navigation and robotics capabilities in a single platform for spine and cranial procedures.

The CE mark approval follows U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearances obtained earlier in 2026, according to a company statement. The system is indicated for spine and cranial surgical procedures and features what Medtronic describes as LiveAlign segmental tracking technology for real-time visualization during spine operations.

The platform includes artificial intelligence-driven architecture for surgical planning and visualization. For cranial applications, the system incorporates AI-powered automatic tractography to create patient-specific brain maps and visualize neural pathways.

"Receiving CE mark for the Stealth AXiS system marks an important milestone in expanding access to advanced surgical technologies across Europe," said Oli Prosperi, Vice President, International Commercial, Cranial & Spinal Technologies at Medtronic.

The system is designed as a modular platform that allows hospitals to adopt capabilities based on their specific needs while maintaining flexibility for future expansion. Medtronic positions the technology as part of its AiBLE ecosystem, which connects pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative workflows.

Medtronic’s Cranial & Spinal Technologies business serves more than 4 million patients annually with a portfolio of 150 products covering more than 20 pathologies, according to the company. The business unit operates as part of Medtronic plc, which is headquartered in Galway, Ireland.
