I feel like most discussions around energy fall into two extremes.

Either people think we’re still early and nothing has really changed, or they think we’re about to fully transition away from fossil fuels in a straight line.

Reality looks way messier.

We’ve already seen massive capital flow into clean tech. In fact, clean energy investment is now outpacing fossil fuel investment globally .

At the same time, the system hasn’t flipped.

Fossil fuels still dominate total energy use, and the transition is happening unevenly across sectors.

Electricity is decarbonizing relatively quickly. But industrial energy, transport, and heating are much slower to change.

So what we’re left with is this awkward middle phase.

Feels like we’re no longer in the “build phase,” but in the “make it actually work” phase.
