Crypto publication CoinDesk claims cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has put its initial public offering (IPO) plans “on hold” in 2026 due to difficult market conditions.

In a report Wednesday from sources familiar with the matter, CoinDesk claimed the firm still plans on pursuing a listing long term.

“As we announced in November, we filed confidentially with the SEC, and that is all we can really share,” the exchange told CoinDesk.

At the time, Bitcoin remained over $100,000 per token.

Since then, the crypto-asset has shed nearly 50% of its value. Numerous companies in the space have put larger efforts on pause, while some have shed team members or have gone out of business entirely. Market maker BlockFills, for example, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday after suffering a $75 million loss.

Kraken was last privately valued at $20 billion following an $800 million funding round.
