  • This post details a personal financial achievement of reaching $400k in investments at age 33, achieved through disciplined saving and investing despite personal challenges. I need support since no one in my real life would be happy for me! 400k at 33.

I [33F] just reached my $400k milestone in investments.

I’ve lived very modest for most of my 20’s (possessions and rent lifestyle) and 10% was from inheritance. In my early 30’s I got out of a long-term relationship with no support from family and minimal friends in real life. I make a modest salary for my age ($60k).

Ever since my relationship ended, I’ve had to rediscover myself, going through depression and feeling lost, and navigating dating at my age.

Throughout my adult life I’ve never had a support system in real life (people that I see regularly in my town) who truly wanted the best for me.

I had about 60% of this in cash at one point and almost bought myself a home, but then I made the hard decision to invest in the market instead.

There’s no guarantee any of my current family members are leaving me with anything and relying on them would mean sacrificing my own independence, happiness, peace, and dignity.

I’m so proud of myself despite other things in my life are dull. I know investing isn’t always steady but I’m in it for the long haul. I know that I’m doing the best I can to protect my future self in old age. I’m now at a spot where I feel more sure that I’ll be okay.
