  • The author suggests i80 Gold (IAUX) presents a buying opportunity based on the CEO's history of successfully developing and selling gold mining companies. When you see a pattern, lean in. i80 Gold is a gold miner with a Nevada resource. The stock is worth $4+ with the gold price at $3,000 based on reserves ($4.9B from the company's NAV calculation on page 6 of the corporate presentation / 840mm share = $5.83/share X 25% discount for "shit happens" = $4.30.

The best part of the story, however, is the CEO's recent history. He sold Teranga Gold for Endeavor Mining in 2021 after taking it from the same stage of development i80 is right now to mature production. Then he joined Argonaut Gold and sold it to Alamos within 18 months. He joined i80 in April of 2025. The guy is going to get the gold coming out of the ground and then sell this company. It is just a matter of time.

Of course, the gold price is well over $3,000. The current spot is $5,000/oz. At that gold level, the stock price potential is close to $10/share. Every gold major in the world wants assets in politically safe jurisdictions. Barrick, Newmont, Agnico will all want this company once the development is finished.
