  • The post discusses investment strategies for a Canadian investor with a long-term horizon, considering ETFs like SPY, VOO, XEQT, and VEQT. While the direct impact on US equities is limited, the discussion around passive investing and asset allocation reflects broader trends influencing ETF flows and market sentiment. The preference for 'safe' gradual growth suggests a potential shift towards value or dividend-focused ETFs, which could indirectly affect US equity valuations.
How would you allocate $70k CAD into ETFs?

I have 70k to invest into strictly ETFs. I’m not sure which one to do, or if I should split between multiple ETFs? I will not be touching this for 20+ years and hoping the compound interest will give me some future cushioning.

SPY? VOO? XEQT? VEQT?

I’m not sure if it’s wise to go all in on one or spread them across a few. I already have about 50k spread across a few individual growth stocks and am looking for more of a “safe” but gradual bet for a large sum that I wouldn’t move out from. I’m hoping to have kids in the next few years and I’d rather to have this sitting in a GIC if there’s something better.

Thanks Reddit <3 help my future <3
