HOOD announced layoffs on June 16, framed as avoiding a heavily layered organization rather than distress and the market read it the same way, with shares holding up near $96-100, well off the 52 week low of $63. I made a post recently about a sourcing a compelling investment to look into, HOOD was the one i found most fit.

Simple thesis, the growth numbers are real, may platform assets hit $377b with 27.7m funded customers, up 48% yoy and equity trading volume rose 75%, options contracts 29%. The newer bets being agentic trading/agentic credit card letting AI agents trade and spend through sub accounts, the trump accounts product and prediction markets are starting to show up in sell side targets, with Mizuho, Goldman, Deutsche bank, Cantor, and Keybanc all raising targets to $95-115.

Valuation, ran a full DCF off the SEC filings and landed at $96 fair value. At current price, the stock isn't disconnected from cash flows the way it was at the highs, it's basically caught up. That means there's very little margin of safety baked in right now, you're paying close to fair value for execution that hasn't fully happened yet.

Risks: Crypto transaction revenue was still down sharply yoy last quarter, so the revenue mix is uneven, not uniformly strong. The new product lines like agentic trading and prediction markets are unproven at scale and carry regulatory uncertainty. Trailing P/E is of 47x, which only works if growth keeps compounding at this pace. There's also been routine but notable insider selling under 10b5-1 plans recently, not a red flag on its own, but worth knowing.

Overall opinion, I think this is a hold and watch, not a chase here. Happy to send the full analysis/model breakdown to anyone who wants it, just DM me. The above information is not a dd, its a very summarised version for anyone wanting a preview to the business.
