Investing.com-- The Donald Trump administration has so far rejected requests from Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) and other U.S. automakers for relief from tariffs on aluminum imports, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
The requests come after fires at a major U.S. factory created aluminum supply bottlenecks for the manufacture of several vehicles, including the F-150 pickup, the WSJ reported.

An aluminum shortage has hit Ford especially hard, given the aluminum exterior of its F-150 truck.
The shortage stems from two fires at the Novelis aluminum rolling plant in Oswego in 2025, which halted production at the largest U.S. aluminum supplier until at least June 2026.
The automaker asked the Trump administration for assistance in recent weeks, requesting relief from duties at least until a key U.S. aluminum plant comes back online. But so far, the White House has not budged, the WSJ reported, noting that discussions were still in process.
