
WeRide is teaming up with Geely Farizon and public transport Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings to develop the first native right hand drive robotaxi. Almost the entire global AV rollout has been focused on left hand drive infrastructure. WRD and Geely Farizon are building a deep operational foundation in the world of flipped steering wheel into an existing car. Their plan is to scale the global fleet of 2600 vehicles by the end of 2026 and tens of thousands by 2030, giving them dual pillar manufacturing. Hong Kong is their first destination for these new models, Kwoon Chung Smart Mobility has already bought the left hand drive of WRD GXR to the city, successfully secured an official AV driving license. This mens right now they are collecting local data and city complex before the right-hand-drive units roll off the line. Hong Kong is a perfect operational launchpad to export their ecosystem into markets like Singapore, UK, Japan and Australia.
