Investing.com -- Chinese Apple supplier Luxshare Precision Industry said it expects minimal disruption to its operations from a US patent infringement investigation involving its data centre power supply technology.
In a stock exchange filing published late Saturday, Luxshare said the US International Trade Commission (ITC) launched a Section 337 investigation on October 9 following a complaint filed by US technology company Vicor Corp.
The investigation targets Luxshare and its subsidiary Dongguan Luxshare Technology over alleged patent infringement involving vertical power delivery systems, related components and computing systems incorporating the technology.
Luxshare said the investigation remains at a preliminary stage, with the ITC yet to make any substantive findings regarding the allegations.
The Chinese manufacturer said the products under investigation are primarily intended for power modules and power supply solutions used in data centres.
Because the affected products have not entered mass production, Luxshare expects the proceedings to have no material adverse impact on its business operations or near-term financial performance.
The company said it has begun reviewing the patents and products involved in the complaint and is assembling technical, legal and business teams to prepare its response.
Luxshare also plans to strengthen cooperation with customers and supply chain partners while defending its interests and those of shareholders.
Section 337 investigations allow the ITC to examine allegations of unfair trade practices involving imported products, including potential infringements of US intellectual property rights.
The commission can impose import restrictions on products found to violate relevant patents, although no such determination has been made in Luxshare’s case.
The investigation comes as Luxshare, a major supplier to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), faces scrutiny over technology used in data centre power infrastructure.
The company’s assessment suggests limited immediate financial exposure, although the eventual outcome will depend on the investigation’s findings and any subsequent regulatory measures.
